Common Name: Formosa Azalea
Description: These Azaleas have an upright growth habit and are the best choice for a high light area. The Formosa has beautiful magenta deep colored flowers that grow profusely during the spring. The flowers are 3 inches in diameter. Attracts hummingbirds, used as a gift plant.

Soil: widely adaptable
Uses: Popular uses for Purple Formosa include hedges, colorful accents or borders, and also works very well to help highlight any semi shaded area. Have even seen this variety used as a larger under story planting under the shady canopies of larger shade trees. Exceptional early spring color for beds, borders and foundation planting. Plant with Normandy Rhododendren, Seiryu Japanese Maple, Orangee Flame Oregon Grape Holly or Makinooi's Holly Fern.
